This paper investigates the design of state feedback and dynamic output feedback stabilizing controllers for discretetime piecewise affine (PWA) systems. The main objective is to derive design methods that will incorporate the partition information of the PWA systems so as to reduce the design conservatism embedded in existing design methods. We first introduce a transformation that converts the feedback control design problem into a bilinear matrix inequality (BMI) problem. Then, two iterative algorithms are proposed to compute the feedback controllers characterized by the BMI. Several simulation examples are given to demonstrate the advantages of the proposed design.

Abstract: This paper considers the problems of finitetime analysis and control design of nonlinear systems. Based on class K∞ functions, the more general definitions are proposed for kinds of finitetime stabilities, and the sufficient conditions are obtained by Lyapunov functions to ensure the finitetime stability of nonlinear systems. In addition, Sontag's formula is used to develop the design approaches for the finitetime stable, quasicontractively stable and disturbance rejection controllers.

To solve the problems in designing a switching controller for smoothing chattering at the time of switching in multimodel systems, a fuzzy smooth switching multimodel control for nonlinear systems is proposed based on T-S models. The proposed strategy can divide the input space into multiple fuzzy regions to blur the boundaries and can facilitate the design of local T-S models and controllers in each region, which guarantees the smoothness of the system state trajectory in the process of switching controllers on the blurred boundaries. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by simulation results.

A twostep selflocalization method for mobile robots is presented based on laser information. After preprocessing of the laser scan map, straight lines are extracted by a sequential searching method during the first step and the angle histogram is constructed. Then the rotation angle of the robot can be computed by angle histogram matching. During the second step, the kernel densities of the laser data after histogram matching are estimated and the object function with translation parameter is constructed based on kernel density correlation. The translation vector is solved by the BFGS quasi Newton method. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.

With the fuzzy Cmeans clustering (FCM) algorithm it is difficult to determine the number of clusters in the research of medical image segmentation, which is easy to get into a local optimum. To overcome these shortcomings,a fuzzy Cmeans clustering algorithm is presented for image segmentation based on the ant colony algorithm. First, the overall robustness advantages of the ant colony algorithm are used to get the cluster center and the number of the clusters of the image. Then the results are obtained as the initial cluster centers and the number of clusters of fuzzy Cmeans clustering algorithm. This algorithm overcomes the shortcomings of traditional ones and gets better results. Analysis of the examples is given to prove the effectiveness and practicality of this algorithm.

A novel approach to offline Chinese signature verification is proposed based on projection profiles and discrete wavelet transform (DWT). Since the high frequency coefficients of wavelet decomposition represent the better timeresolution features, the reconstructed signals are the second features of the adjusted projection profiles. These features can enhance the signature characteristics, while with an increase of uncertainty to the true signatures. Fuzzy nets are introduced to describe the variation and to employ verification. The average error rate is about 11% obtained from a Chinese signatures database, which is about 6% less than that of the existing research.

The equivalent integral weak form of the elastic mechanics control equation is formed. Because of the disadvantages of Guass integration and instability of direct nodal integration, the stabilized conforming nodal integration scheme is adopted based on strain smoothing theory, which improves the meshless global weak form of the 2D problem. The integral fields of this scheme, Voronoi diagram, are with grids accompanied with field nodes. Radial basis point interpolation shape function augmented with polynomial terms is selected in order to easily apply the essential boundary conditions. Numerical examples show that the numerical results have good agreement with the analytical ones, and also establish the stability, accuracy, and good robustness of the present method.

The growth process of side-branching of dendrites during solidification of pure Ni melt was studied by the phasefield simulation. The phasefield model was modified by coupling both structural fluctuation and energetic fluctuation. The simulation results indicate that with an increase of undercooling, the velocity and radius of the dendritic tip increases, and the sidebranch becomes intense. It is also found that as the level of the structural fluctuation and energetic fluctuation is increased the side-branch become richer, and a morphological transition takes place with dendrite tipsplitting (doubloon formation) resulting in the normal dendrite morphology being replaced by the dendritic‘seaweed’ morphology.

Koblitz curves belong to a special class of binary curves on which the scalar multiplication can be computed very efficiently by the method of width w radixτ NAF expansion (TNAFw). The scalar multiplication using TNAFw is vulnerable to side channel attacks. A new efficient algorithm is proposed against simple power analysis. Its basic idea is to insert dummy operations in the scalar multiplication using TNAFw so as to resist simple power analysis. This algorithm further optimizes computational cost and the precomputation table. Compared with the SPA resistant TNAFw(STNAFw) algorithm, the number of precomputation points is reduced about 50% and its computation time is reduced about 18%~28%.

The finite element method of three-dimension elasticity and plasticity mechanics model is introduced to analyze interlamination contacting conditions and the influence of axle load on road surface and subgrade surface flexure, the distribution of interlamination maximum tensile stress, the maximum friction force and transverse displacement. The important relationship between the interlamination interface conditions and the pavement ensemble performance is discussed. The analysis shows that the interface continuing problem is vital for the easy formation of structural hazards at the early stage of semi-rigid asphalt pavement and generated the water breakage forming interface deterioration. With regard to the depth of the subgrade workspace, the position of the maximum flexuraltensile stress calculating point and the critical load of expressway semirigid asphalt pavement's overload, suggested values are given.
