Necessary and sufficient conditions for uniform controllability and observability of linear switched systems

Abstract: The uniform controllability, reachability and observability of linear switched control systems are investigated. First, the concepts of the trajectory operator, uniformly controllable state set and uniformly reachable state set are given respectively. Second, using the trajectory operator and uniformly controllable/reachable state sets, necessary and sufficient conditions for the uniform controllability, reachability and observability are provided respectively. It is shown that a linear switched control system is uniformly completely controllable (reachable, observable, determinable) if and only if all the subsystems of the switched system are completely controllable (reachable, observable, determinable).
