Abstract:

The dynamic interfacial tensions between organic alkali ethanolamine and Shengli crude oils from five different blocks were investigated using the spinning drop method. The influence of different types of inorganic alkalis on the interfacial tensions of crude oils was compared with that of organic alkali. Experimental results showed that ethanolamine could react with petroleum acid to effectively reduce the interfacial tensions, and the ultra-low interfacial tension could be obtained at the optimum condition. The interfacial tensions between organic alkali solutions and crude oils were determined mainly by the content and structure of petroleum acids in the crude oils, and accordingly, the dynamic interfacial tensions showed quite different behaviors between ethanolamine and crude oils from different blocks. For both organic and inorganic alkalis, the weaker the alkalinity was, the lower the pH value needed to react with crude oil.
