Abstract:

A new method was presented to compute the knot vectors, and the leastsquare method was used to compute approximation of BSpline curve. This methodhad high approximation precision and good controllable for the wiggly in the first point and the end point. The approximation curve could meet the tolerance. Practical experience showed that the approximation pencilcut path is a C2continuous curve and has good fairness, which has high machining accuracy and could reduce the number of programs in NC processing.

Key words: pencil-cut; least square method; B-Spline curve; approximation
