Abstract:

The method of geological work for the construction of karst tunnels, and the procedures and contents were put forth. Then, the tunnel management was carried out based on the classification of A, B and C in view of the complexity of karst tunnels concerning the geological and hydro-geological condition, the effect of geological factors on tunnels and the induced environmental problems. Correspondingly, there were three classes for advance geological forecasting with various methods and means. Finally, the disaster evaluation was taken on the basis of geological forecasting. Suggestions on disaster warning and construction countermeasures were put forth for the reference of optimization of design and construction in karst tunnels. This method was successfully applied in on Yi Wan Railway.

Key words: karst tunnel; construction geology; advanced prediction; disaster warning; classification of geological forecasting
