Abstract: Wide applications of large capacity FACTS equipments within nowadays HV substations will lead to large amount of broadband electromagnetic emissions, which can bring EM contamination to power grids and the environment, result in selfmalfunction or even potentially cause unaccepted response of the second electronic devices nearby.By fully analysis of EMC present issues with FACTS equipment, the principal research topics and contents for EMC studies within FACTS substations are discussed, and the specific research method and aim are also outlined in detail, which presents reference and guidance for further research in the field.

Key words: EMC, HF emissions, substation , FACTS
