### Fault line selection method of distribution network based on the relative change rate in dominant bands

Abstract: To improve accuracy of faulty line selection in distribution network, a new fault line selection method was put forward which was based on the relative change rate of transient zero mode current. By analyzing the transient electrical quantities characteristics of distribution, the standard reference sequence of instantaneous rate of change for the zero mode current and the transient line selection dominant bands was defined. The maximum instantaneous rate of change after single phase fault in the dominant bands was calculated and was compared with the standard reference sequence. Then the fault line can be determined according to the relative maximum instantaneous rate of change. Theoretical analysis and simulation results showed that the method could increase the fault characteristic differences effectively and was good in selectivity and adaptability.
